Sea To Summit Hammock Ultralight Tarp Review

Cooking under the tarp at one of our weather day camp spots

For our 90 day kayaking trip through the Inside Passage, we needed a tarp that was light weight but big enough to shelter us from the rain and sun. We looked around at many different types. Most were surprisingly bulky and heavy. Anna went after this and found the Sea To Summit Hammock Ultralight Tarp. We didn’t bring hammocks, but we absolutely love this tarp.

It packs down extremely small and weighs only 11.7 oz. It comes with five tie-out points with plastic tighteners and spans 11′ 10″ x 9′ 2″.  This gave us plenty of room to hide from either the rain or sun. It withstood heavy winds and rain. We had no issues with leaks. The pentagonal shape of this tarp was perfect allowing the rain to shed off in one direction.

Keeping the rain at bay

Modifications:

We attached plastic Nite Ize S-Biner Plastic Size-0 Double Gated Carabiner at each guy-line for ease of tying off. Sometimes we had to add extra para cord to allow us to find trees to tie into.

Overall

The Sea To Summit Hammock Ultralight Tarp is an amazing tarp. Packs down small, lightweight, durable and is surprisingly large coverage for its size. I would recommend this tarp to everyone. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

A nice spot to stop and get out of the rain
